Eataly announces date for Toronto opening

Culinary destination Eataly currently boasts almost 40 locations worldwide including the U.S., Arabia, Japan, Seoul, Stockholm, Moscow, Istanbul, Munich, and Sāo Paulo. Next stop: Toronto

The first Canadian outpost has been in the works and under construction for what seems like forever. But the wait is almost over. It was announced yesterday that the renowned Italian marketplace will be officially opening the doors at Bay and Bloor’s Manulife Centre on Wednesday November 13 at 5pm.

Further details were also revealed: The 50,000 sq. ft. venue downtown boasts four restaurants, seven food counters, two cafes, in-house brewery/beer shop/tasting room , and +10,000 products for purchase across three floors.

MANGIA E BEVI 

Ristorante

With four restaurants to choose from, you can explore the flavours of Italy without having to pack a single bag.: La Pizza & La Pasta, seafood-focused La Pescheria, La Piazza specializing in Italian street food, and “regional-inspired” Trattoria Milano (set to open Winter 2020) .

Pronto a Mangiare

Enjoy items including pizza, pasta, and gelato available at quick service counters, at various seating areas throughout the space.

Caffè

Il Gran Caffè by illy - an “upscale, full-service Italian bar” - offers a variety of items throughout the day including: breakfast, lunch, aperitivo, and late-night nibbles.

Birroteca

In-house brewery, beer shop and tasting room Birroteca, in partnership with Indie Ale House, features an exclusive Italian Pilsner, in addition to rotating brews “inspired by the fresh ingredients of the Mercato.”

ACQUISTARE

Mercato

The expansive marketplace offers fresh local produce, butcher counter, fishmonger, cured meat and cheese counter, fresh pasta counter, and bakery, as well as an assortment of imported items from Italy. Expect “100 new Italian brands” and “high-quality items from over 50 Canadian producers.”

Pronto

Say hello to the brand’s “largest selection of takeaway offerings.” Ready-to-eat options include: grazing trays, salads, paninis, and desserts. 

Cooking School

In-house cooking school La Scuola di Eataly will offer “a variety of hands-on cooking classes and educational events.”
