Art, Music & Books

Featured internationally, both in print and online, I have interviewed and profiled celebrities, authors and musicians.

I was the op-ed columnist and feature writer for the arts newspaper, Surface & Symbol.

I write the interior design in Riverside Quarterly magazine, where I focus on intimate living spaces along with the small, everyday objects that we use and treasure.

I have covered everything from the visual arts to architecture to product design and preservation, but covering the people and places of the arts world is of particular interest to me.

My passion for the arts and pop culture have taken me from dismantling viewer discretion advisories to visiting galleries each week and commenting on artists that are making a difference.

Music Writing

I have covered all types of music including Electronic/Experimental, Pop, Sacred Instrumental, Singer/Songwriter, Benefit CDs, Compilations, Nu-purple funk, New York Soul, UK Hip Hop, Yob-house, Ambient Electronica, Ethereal Pop, Old School, Jungle, Ragga Jungle, Modern Rock, Garage, Funk, Rap, Reggae, Rhythm and Blues, Dance, House, Techno, Jazz, Blues, World Beat, Latin, Inspirational, Christian, Gospel, Soundtracks, A Cappella, Children's, Breaks, Spoken Word, Chillout, and Drum & Bass to name just a few. You won't find anyone more passionate to write about music.

I have written for such music magazines as Numb, The Sentimentalist, Blue Media, The Spill, Rinse, and Atomic, to name just a few. I have interviewed hip-hop superstars K-OS, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and Kinnie Starr, garage rock troubadour Mister Nobu, neo-soul goddess Ivana Santilli and DJ Ryan Ruckus of Empire productions. I was the music columnist for Toronto's Annex Gleaner newspaper and as a voting member for the CMW (Canadian Music Week) Awards, a member of the Urban Music Association of Canada and a card-carrying member of the Canadian Association of Journalists, I am passionate about any and all things music.

I have written about music for Atomic, Annex Gleaner Newspaper (Music Columnist), The Hole (Music Columnist), Numb, Paste, PopMatters.com, Retro Radar, Rinse, The Sentimentalist and The Spill to name just a few

In addition to writing about music, I am very interested in penning pop culture and style pieces that evoke both thought and debate.

Book Reviews

I have been reviewing books for publication for as long as I have been writing.

I am a member of the National Book Critics Circle.  I was also the Associate Books Editor at Popmatters.com and Assistant Editor & Reviews Editor at Write Magazine. I have profiled Margaret Atwood, Eudora Welty and interviewed many authors.

I have reviewed books and written about them for The Writer, Film International, The Dalhousie Review, A&U: Arts & Understanding, New England Theatre Review, Pages, AbsoluteWrite.com, Washington Asia Press Newspaper, cv2: Contemporary Verse 2, Word, The Antigonish Review, Canadian Writer's Journal, GoodGirl, Curled-Up, Ascent, Event: The Douglas College Review, Matrix, M/C Journal: A Journal of Media and Culture, Green Teacher: Education for Planet Earth, Canadian Woman Studies Journal, Writer's Journal and RicePaper to name just a few.

Reviewing remains my passion and I hope that my commitment as well as my experience will allow me the opportunity to work with you and your publication.
