Open/Closed for the week of July 13-19

We’re halfway through Summerlicious, the Pan Am Games and well, summer.

To help get you the rest of the way, I’ve got tons of new restaurants (this is busy for July) and events for your enjoyment.

Here’s the very latest:

Open:

DAC Biet Burger
213 Church St.

Just opened on Saturday, this new Vietnamese burger spot on Church is open seven days a week. "Dac Biet" means "special" and if worlds colliding like Vietanamese flavours and burgers aren’t special enough, I don’t know what is.

The Hearth by Lynn Crawford
Terminal 1 – Toronto Pearson Airport

Celebrity Chef Lynn Crawford’s market-inspired, chef-driven dishes have extended to the airport at Terminal 1. The Hearth by Lynn Crawford (by HMSHost in partnership with Chef Crawford of Riverside’s Ruby Watchco) offers dishes such as flatbread with foraged mushrooms, onion petals, goat cheese and pesto; peameal on a bun with honey mustard peameal bacon, aged Canadian cheddar & onion jam; and smoked salmon mousse and fennel marmalade served with apples. It's located after-security (USA), at Level 2 Gates.

Majorelle
718 Queen St. E.

Sliced in Riverside has changed to Majorelle, focusing on North African and Mediterranean dishes. They will also be open evenings to accommodate the neighbourhood.

Skwish
2252 Queen St. E.

The Beaches continues to get infused with new restaurants this summer. This one, headed by Chef Daniel Racine (Kultura, publisher of A Gift from the Stars Cookbook) has a global feel with items including Smoked Duck Breast and Fig Salad, Caribbean Seafood Tacos and Chicken Picatta.

Smoke's Weinerie
457 Spadina Ave.

Part of the Smoke’s Poutinerie family, this weiner-centric spot offers everything from “naked steamies” to a PBJ & BACON dog. And yes, there is a poutine dog, delivering the best of both worlds.

Union Social Eatery Uptown
4899 Yonge St .

The “Uptown Funk” location of Union Social lands just north of Sheppard on Yonge. Drinks, flatbread pizzas, salads, burgers and steak are now within reach of your bright white condo.

The Uptown PubHouse
3185 Yonge St.

Designed by Evelyn Eshun Design Inc., the new spot at Yonge and Lawrence features pub fare including pot pies, sandwiches, burgers, and sticky toffee pudding and deep fried Mars bar for dessert

Windup Restaurant
382 College St.

The former Windup Bird Café is now Windup Restaurant. The new look, chef (Bryan Birch) and menu (Trinidadian influenced) is open for lunch, dinner (Salt Cod Fritters with bacon foam, preserved lemon & ackee; Open faced Curried Goat roti with pumpkin, pickled mango, plantain chips & cilantro) and brunch.
