Open/Closed for the week of August 24-30

he last week of August shows a major slowdown in openings, but still impresses with fantastic events. Some surprising closings as well.

Don’t worry though, there are a slew of openings – BIG ones too - happening in September, just in time for TIFF!

In the meantime, here’s the very latest:

Open:

The Brickyard Grounds Fine Coffee & Light Fare
1289 Gerrard St. E.

The coffee shop-cum- restaurant at Gerrard and Greenwood opens tomorrow after surviving a fire back in February. With rotisserie chicken, poutine, coffee, wine and beer on the menu, no doubt it will be a popular spot.

Grey Tiger
1190 Bloor St. W.

Finally! The long-awaited opening of this cute spot for food and drinks arrived earlier this week. On the menu? Coffees, teas and homemade sodas mingle with craft beers and "veg-friendly" snacks. However, they are "closing to regroup. Back by August 28."

Also of note:

Pinkberry, the famous LA frozen yogurt with toppings chain, has moved north of the border. They are now open in Mississagua's Square One.

Closed:

Bistro 243 at King and Sherbourne closed. Soon to open in its spot – Il Fresco.
