Open/Closed for the week of August 3-9

With seven food events this weekend, a handful of new restaurants and a forecast without rain, your weekend is looking pretty great.

Here’s the very latest:

Open:

Magic Oven
1450 Danforth Ave.

This location on Danforth East in Monarch Park (between Greenwood and Coxwell) is now open for delivery.

Pisco
614 College St.

Peruvian fare is here! How exciting, especially just in time for summer. Pisco uses Canadian ingredients when possible, alongside Peruvian fruit. I’ll have more to come soon.

QW Resto-Bar
1032 Queen St. W.

QW Resto-Bar describes itself as a nightlife lounge with an “upscale casual atmosphere” and bottle service, making it definitely worth a look-see. Tomorrow night is the opening launch, complete with live art.

90 Second Pizzeria
259 Queen St. W.

Feel like pizza but hate the wait? 90 Second Pizzeria gets your pie out in just a minute-and-a-half.

Closed:

Magic Oven’s location at 798 Danforth Ave. near Pape has closed, but as you’ll see above, their new location can be found just east of it.

Lemon Lily’s Dundas location is empty, but good news – they’re setting up shop in Yorkville! #StrongerHarderFasterBetter

Events:

Starting tomorrow evening and going all weekend long, Taste of the Danforth is taking over the strip between Broadview and Jones. Get all the details here

This Saturday, head to Lovin’ Local Food Fest at Dundas Square.  Not only is it a day chock full of entertainment (The Spoons! Jully Black!), Chef Lynn Crawford will be doing a cooking demo. And how exciting is this? It's the first ever FeastON-certified event, complete with FeastON folks including BindiaBrad Long of Cafe Belong and Hawthorne Food + Drink.  View the full day's schedule here (Note: the chef battle, Food Fight, has been canceled).

Also happening on Saturday, the Toronto Vegan Food and Drink Festival.

Summer in Toronto means that there’s likely a beer event every weekend and this one’s no different. Saturday and Sunday, get your beer on at  The Roundhouse Craft Beer Festival.

Mmm, jerk food. If you can't get enough, Jerk Fest is for you. It happens this Saturday and Sunday.

On Sunday, the Kultura Filipino Arts Festival KAIN KALYE is having a Filipino Street Eats Competition.

On Tuesdays in August,  Drake One Fifty and Momofuku can be found at the parkette next to Drake One Fifty (west side of York St. between Richmond and Adelaide). This'“mini night-market' will have food along with indie musician performances. In addition, Pizzeria LibrettoRichmond Station and Thoroughbred Food & Drink will be on hand on alternating Tuesdays.
