Open/Closed for the week of August 8 –14

This week shows a slight dip in openings, but there are still plenty new spots to enjoy. And enough events to keep you going all weekend.

Here’s the very latest:

Open:

Attico Bar & Tapas
134 Peter St.

The new tapas bar by Ricarda’s opened Tuesday.

I’ll have a closer look for you soon.

Dirty Food Eatery 
3070 Dundas St. W.

After a long wait, the Junction spot specializing in brunch finally opens Friday.

Hours will be slightly reduced (10am-2pm-ish) for the first few days, but they hope to be open the full hours of 8am-3pm by Monday. Stay tuned.

Idle Resto & Bar
1063 Bloor St. W.

If you’re in the Bloor & Dufferin 'hood and get a hankering for something to eat, Idle offers mains that are often "big enough to share." The menu features everything from appetizers of Calamari ($6.95) and Fries ($4.95) to entrees including Pad Thai ($9.50) and Fish & Chips ($9.25).

La Carnita 
130 Eglinton Ave. E.

Young & eligibles now have a La Carnita to call their very own. Opened Saturday, this one comes with it’s own bar downstairs – Good Fortune - with a dedicated menu including the Fortune Burger ($8), Chicken Fingers ($8), Miami Ribs ($12), and Crinkle Cut Fries ($4.50).

Montgomery’s 
996 Queen St. W.

Chef Guy Rawlings (formerly of Bar Isabel) and wife Kim open their new spot at Queen and Ossington next week, with reservations available starting on Tuesday.

Rolltation 
207 Dundas St. W.

Toronto’s first sushi burrito restaurant has opened. Made-to-order sushi burritos, poke bowls and salads can now be yours.

I’ll have a closer look for you next week.

Closed:

Hola Tapas & Wine Bar in Leslieville has closed, but will be switching to tastings menus, wine pairings and modernist cuisine at their new location in Rosedale, set to open by October.

Pisco 1641 is closing on Monday.

Events:

The $5 Comfort Food Crawl starts today. 
 
Your Spanish culinary trip begins on Friday for the Estrella Damm Tapas Journey.

This weekend, head to the Toronto Creole Caribbean Food Festival.
 
On Sunday, take the Roncesvalles Food Nook Tour with Pass The Table

Evergreen Brick Works is holding a Wild Blueberry Pizza Night with Pizzeria Libretto on Wednesday from 5:30-9pm. A variety of food trucks will also be on hand.

Diner en Blanc takes place next Thursday, but the event is already sold out.
