Open/Closed for the week of August 29 – Sept 4

Heading into the holiday weekend, there are a handful of new on-trend spots to visit as well as an array of fun food-filled events.

Open:
 
The Boil Bar  
664 Yonge St.

The newest seafood boil chain restaurant opens today on Yonge at Isabella. This one comes with complimentary garlic bread.

An Annex location is set to open later this year.

The Dylan 
1276 Danforth Ave.

Greenwood and Danforth has a new watering hole, inspired by Dylan Thomas.

Nothing Bundt Cakes 
3350 Fairview St.

The first Canadian location of the American bakery chain opened in Burlington on Friday.

Founded in 1997 with over 170 franchises in the U.S., the shop offers bundt cakes in various flavours and sizes.

Pokito – Fresh Poké Creations  
420 Queen St. W.

Pokito celebrates their grand opening today.

Poke bowls and burritos are available in classic combinations, as well as Thai Coconut Shrimp (Thai coconut sauce, green papaya, jicama, lemongrass garlic corn) and SSSScallops (SSS sauce, sweet onions, edamame, pineapple chow).

Souk Tabule  
500 Front St E.

The new Tabule is slated to open in Canary District on Sunday, "fingers crossed." New menu items including Zaatar Croissants, Lebanese Pulled Chicken & Dirty Rice, and Hallüm Sandwich on Zaatar Milk Bun.

Other new features: free wifi, longer hours and "market" section where you can stop and eat as well as shop for housewares including tea pots and glasses.

Closed:

Concession Road has closed, in order to "make way for a new Indian inspired restaurant under the Pukka umbrella." Stay tuned.

Starting today, The Spoke Club is being taken over by Miami’s Villa Azur Restarurant & Lounge in celebration of TIFF. The popup location will be lead by Villa Azur’s own Executive Chef Erwin Mallet, with classic French-Mediterranean dishes as well as creative offerings inspired by the cinematography of this year’s film fest.  Lunch, dinner, bottle service, and Champagne Brunch on the rooftop (Sunday only) reservations are now available. Head to Pass The Table’s Summer Beer Series with Beau's All Natural Brewery, taking place September 8. 

This year’s 11th biennial Ashkenaz Festival  welcomes a diverse lineup of notable chefs, restaurateurs and food writers in its first ever Fressers Summit  on Saturday, highlighting the role of food in contemporary Jewish cultural revival. Notable personalities participating include Zane Caplansky, Bonnie Stern, Leor Zimerman, Judy Perly , Michael Wex, Liz Alpern, Dina Rock and Michael Twitty.

Saturday’s SoundBites Festival features the AwesTRUCK Food Truck Awards and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
