Open/Closed for the week of March 20-26

You’re not going to believe what opened and closed this week.

Here’s the very latest:

OPENINGS

Chicago-style deep dish ‘za can now be had west side, thanks to Double D’s Pizza (1256 Dundas St. W.) new spot in the Junction. Doors opened earlier this week.

The wait is over, hosers. Apiecalypse Now! opened an “all vegan all hoser metal bar” FuBar (735 Bloor St.W.) upstairs on Monday.

Kensington Pop Up (319 Augusta Ave.) serves up everything from Beet Caprese Salad to Pappardelle & Meatballs, alongside brews and cocktails.

Cassia Pop-Up (Come and Get It, 676 Queen St. W.) is running for two more weeks, and you seriously don’t want to miss out. Chef Scott Roberts has created a rotating set menu of refined Northern Thai dishes, combining his experiences in 3 Michelin-starred restaurants, and his most recent role as Head Chef at London, England's Smoking Goat, a wood-fired Northern Thai restaurant.

Chef Roberts and his team (which includes chefs with international Michelin-starred experience), make the curries and dressings in the traditional way using a mortar and pestle. He says, “The dishes are all inspired by dishes you would find in the North of Thailand, reimagined to showcase exceptional proteins from land and sea, supplied by Bespoke Butchers and Honest Weight fishmongers.”

Each week offers a completely different set menu (dietary restrictions can be accommodated). Two seatings are available: Sunday and Monday at 6.30 and 9 pm. Bookings can be made through Events@ComeandGetIt.ca.

CLOSINGS

The Commodore closed suddenly yesterday. The “very difficult decision” was “accelerated by some personal circumstances.”
