Happy June. It’s about to get a lot brighter, thanks to these 10 new spots.

Here’s the very latest:

OPENINGS

Adelaide Eats (formerly Front Street Foods) returns to 150 York Street (accessible from Adelaide, York and University) with tonight’s grand opening. Open until July 28, Mondays to Wednesdays (11 am to 3 pm), Thursdays to Fridays (11 am to 9 pm), the downtown food market includes rotating vendors such as Cassia Northern Thai, Fish’d by EDO, La Fiesta, Caribbean fare by Mikey’s, Momofuku Noodle BarWahlburgers, and new feature this year, “TO’s Finest Dessert Bar.”

You can experience the roots of Canadian First Nation’s heritage at Chef Joseph Shawana’s Indigenous kitchen Kū-kŭm (581 Mt Pleasant Rd.) at this Saturday’s meet and greet. From 3 to 8 pm, meet Chef Joseph and his team, check out the new restaurant and try some food. The restaurant will open for service this Wednesday, with à la carte selections, in addition to 5- and 9-course tasting menus.

Visit Dineen Coffee’s (199 Bay St.) new location in Commerce Court.

The Dock on Queen (932 Queen St. E.) is your cottage getaway in the city. With Muskoka chairs and cabin fixtures, sit back and relax with coffee, beer, wraps, salads and desserts.

The Gelato Shop (75 Yorkville Ave.) arrived just in time for the warm weather. Homemade gelato comes in an array of flavours and change on the regular. Recent options included Coffee, Nougat, Lemon, Pistachio, Strawberry, Peach, Salvatoreo and Bitter Aperol.

La Palma (849 Dundas St. W.) – brought to you by Chef Craig Harding and Alexandra Hutchison of Campagnolo – made its debut this past Monday morning. The all-day eatery in Trinity-Bellwoods offers everything from coffee and pastries first thing, to lunch, dinner, cocktails and dessert throughout the day. Menu items include Fried Squash Blossoms ($10), Chicken Liver & Vin Cotto ($8), nine veg dishes (Kohlrabi, Radish & Pomegranate $10, for example), fish, pasta, meat and pizza, with dishes ranging from just $6-$20. Sweet. We’ll have a closer look soon.

Ombretta Cucino + Vino (121 Lakeshore Rd. W.) opens for dinner tonight. The new Port Credit restaurant by Anthony Maniccia, chef/owner of the Frankie Fettuccine Food Truck Co., is serving up traditional Italian fare – cicchetti, handmade pasta – in a wine-bar setting.

Potbelly (4841 Yonge St.) continues its toasted sandwich expansion northward, settling in at the Sheppard Centre.

Tabriz Persian Cookhouse (995 Bay St.) opens Monday, with menu selections of Ash Reshteh (thick soup), Koofteh Tabriz (Iranian meatball) and Bademjoon Kabab (baby eggplant stuffed with pomegranate and walnut paste).

Wilder (382 Keele St.) has finally opened.  Come get your gluten-free Quinoa Chocolate Chip Cookies, Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins, coffee, local organic kombucha and a range of smoothies.

CLOSINGS

McGugan’s Pub (1058 Gerrard St. E.) closes tomorrow.

Louisiana-style pizza is a thing of the past now that Peter’s Cajun Creole Pizza (415 Parliament St.) has shuttered.

Doors have closed for Red Castle (531 Danforth Ave.)

Seven44 Restaurant and Lounge (744 Mount Pleasant Rd.) has also closed.

NEWS

Toronto Island eateries are struggling to stay open due to flooding.

Congratulations to all the winners of the recent Canadian Brewing Awards.

Celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisaactor Robert De Niro and Hollywood producer Meir Teper were in town on Tuesday for the launch of Nobu Toronto. The project isn’t set to open however, until 2022.
