The Dish - Mussels

We are fortunate to live in a city with such wide and varied dining options.

That said, it can be exceedingly difficult to track down dishes outside of oysters, burgers, and poutine without spending a significant time online. And good luck trying to find deals beyond the usual pint and wing specials at your local.

That where’s The Dish comes in: I scour the city for your favourite dishes and deals. Because one cannot live on pizza and beer alone.  (Okay one can, but maybe one shouldn’t).

This week: it’s all about Mussels

——

Everyone loves a good buck-a-shuck deal, but what about mussels? They don’t get nearly the love and attention they deserve.

There are some pretty sweet deals to be had. All at the beginning of the week, it turns out.

Bar Hop Brewco

391 King St. W.

Head to Bar Hop on King from 5pm on, for their popular Mussel Mondays feature ($9.95), served with frites and side of bread.

(Note: Only available at the King St. location.)

Eastbound Brewing Co.

700 Queen St. E.

Eastbound’s got you covered when it comes to beer and mussels. Every Tuesday, Chef Tara Lee creates three mussel varieties to choose from, all made with Eastbound brews.

It gets better. Each 1/2 lb. bowl is just five bucks, and in-house beer (16 oz.) is just $5 all day long.

Morgan’s on Danforth

1282 Danforth Ave.

Tuesdays are “Mussel Madness” at this east end neighbourhood spot. Enjoy mussels for $12/lb. all day.

Pearl Diver

100 Adelaide St E.

In the St. Lawrence ‘hood? Dig into mussels for $9.99 on Mondays from 5-10pm.

Pure Spirits Oyster House & Grill

17 Tank House Lane

All-you-can-eat menus are usually reserved for sushi and hot pot, but at Pure Sprits in the Historic Distillery District, have at it with AYCE Mussels on Mondays* for $20.95.

*except holidays.

p.s. Don’t want to leave the house? Get mussels delivered. Thai Boys (1455 Gerrard St. E.) stir-fries Thai Spicy Mussels with mushrooms, chili, sweet peppers, and coriander (Also available for dine-in for $12.99 at their spot Thai One On – same address).
