At The Table with Chloe Wilde

🕒 4.5 min read

Trying to be healthy these day is tricky. Especially in a digital age where pics of unattainable perfection pervade the collective consciousness. Especially when you’re stuck at home and gyms are closed. Especially when all you want to do is end the day with a drink and dessert teeming with sugar.

Which is why Chloe Wilde, entertainment reporter for Canada’s top-rated Etalk and founder of Healthy is Hot, is a national treasure: she not only makes healthy living fun, she does it with a glass of wine and Rice Crispy Square in hand. She does it while swearing: "Healthy is f*cking beautiful, Join the Movement." No wonder she’s amassed +35k followers on Insta alone - not only likeable, she’s sooo relatable.

It turns out she’s unstoppable too. In addition to the very full-on gigs above, she launched an original series on CraveTV and podcast, is National Ambassador for FINCA Canada, and works with many charities, including Boobyball and Special Olympics Canada.

The consummate host and champion of living well while keeping it real, also happens to be damn smart and funny too. See below.

Occupation

TV Host, Podcaster, Founder of Healthy Is Hot, Health Coach in training.

Place of residence

Toronto

Last thing you ate

Jerk salmon with butternut squash, asparagus and roasted mushrooms.

Left to your own devices to make something at home, what would it likely be?

Lazy vibes: Stove-cooked popcorn with chili flakes and parmesan sprinkled on top.

Feeling fancy: Shrimp tacos with all the fixings, slaw, roasted corn, cotija cheese, and a side of lemony kale salad.

When staying at a hotel, what are you raiding from the mini fridge

Hotel Wine. Always the wine.

Guilty pleasure

Pouding chômeur (my Quebecois roots are still with me!). Or… loaded nachos. Extra cheese, please.

Drink of choice

Dry, full bodied red wine or tequila soda with lime.

Favourite meal of the day and why

Breakfast! I could eat breakfast every meal of the day. There's such versatility and something for every mood under the sun. From childhood favourite cereal and acai bowls to savoury delights like smoked salmon eggs benedict, it's not only the most important meal of the day, it's also the best. Hands down.

Favourite cookbooks to use

The internet.

Favourite cookbooks just to look at

Joy McCarthy's, Ruth Tal's Fresh cookbooks, and Antoni from Queer Eye’s

Three items always in your fridge

Oat Milk, Cucumbers, and Maple Syrup.

Top 3 Toronto restaurants

Pizza Libretto, DaiLo, and Hanmoto.

Go-to food and drink order at a restaurant

White pizza with mushrooms, kale salad, and an obnoxious glass of red wine.

Would you rather: Go to farmers’ market/nearest pub/food truck?

Food truck all the way!

Describe your kitchen

A hot mess.

Describe your cooking style

A hot mess with a lot of confidence, but not much skill.

Ideal food day: from the time you wake up until bed, what are you having?

Breakfast - Oat milk latte, acai bowl topped with almond butter, strawberries, banana, cocoa nibs, hemp hearts, and granola.
Lunch - Sashimi and wakame salad.
Dinner - Green curry with naan.
Dessert -  Rice crispy square.
