The Reveal – Palm Lane

The Gist

Healthy on the go? No prob.

Chase Hospitably Groups Palm Lane is serving up gourmet greens, grains and smoothies in a luxe, fast-casual spot on the upper level of Yorkdale Village.

Grub

CHG president Steven Salm saw a gap in the market for nutritious salads made with quality, sustainable ingredients. Culinary director Tyler Shedden, inspired by recent travels to Asia – especially Vietnam – created healthy dishes based on different regions including Korea, Thailand and Japan.

Choose from nine composed salads, four grain bowls, as well as build-your-own options from 80 ingredients including: vegetables from local suppliers such as 100 Km Foods, Inc., grains, seaweed, poultry, meat, cheese, bread, herbs nuts and seeds. Expect the unexpected with elevated items of crispy rice noodles, cauliflower pakoras, kelp noodles, poached egg, and kefir vinaigrette. Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-, dairy- and nut-free options are also available.

All dressings are made from scratch in-house.

Taking it to go? Your meal’s packed in biodegradable containers – take-away bowls are made from pulp, utensils are made of plant starch, and napkins are comprised of recycled materials.

Libations

Four smoothies ($9-$11) run the gamut of chocolatey (The Assistant, $9 with peanut butter, dates, oats, espresso, cocoa nibs, cocoa powder, and almond milk) to veggie (The Hulk, $11, with apple, spinach, avocado, agave, lemon, coconut oil, mint, and hemp seeds.)

Juices, kombucha and other drinks are available as well.

Fixtures and Fittings

The 2000 sq. ft. restaurant is elegantly set between luxe boutiques on the shopping centre’s upper level.

If the sleek space designed by GH+A reminds you of CHG’s other Yorkville destination Planta, it’s no wonder: the dramatic ceiling, brass chairs and cutlery are all familiar, as is the botanical flamingo wallpaper by local designer Candice Kaye (Kaye also designed Planta’s chic wall covering).

Custom-built tabletops are a mix of oak and Caesar Stone. Black and brass chairs were brought in from L.A. And the stunning bowls you get to enjoy when dining in? They’re from Torres & Tagus, out of Vancouver.
