Kids Cook To Care with Chef Cory Vitiello
Today, celebrity chef Cory Vitiello (The Harbord Room, THR & Co., and FLOCK) is helping kid volunteers cook up a sumptuous Moroccan meal for those in need.
Held at the Christie Ossington Neighbourhood Centre, today's event teams Chef Vitiello with Kids Cook to Care, a Toronto-based community meal program, co-founded by Julie Levin and Jill Lewis.
The inspiring program invites children ages 6-16 to prepare a menu of "fun ethnic dishes" over four hours under the guidance of a top Toronto chef, for those in need. Kids get to learn not just valuable culinary skills such as simple prep techniques and how to use ingredients, but about others and what a difference they can make.
Chef Vitiello says, "My appetite for cooking began at a young age, so I’m excited to be able to share my passion with this group while also helping communities in need."
Today’s menu is restaurant-worthy: Moroccan Beef & Vegetable Stew with lentils, chickpeas, preserved lemon, olives and saffron couscous, and Pumpkin and Pomegranate Molasses Cheesecake for dessert.
