Open/Closed for the week of October 17-23

This week brings with it an exciting array of cuisines (many by restaurateurs you're already familiar with) as well as some stellar events.

Here’s the very latest:

3401 Dufferin St.

Yorkdale’s new Nordstrom arrives tomorrow. To take a breather from shopping, grab a bite or drink at their new restaurant Bazille, conveniently located on the third floor.

1285 Bloor St. W.

The new Filipino spot at Bloor and Landsdowne by the Playa Cabana team opens tonight at 5pm.

Jackpot Chicken Rice
318 Spadina Ave.

Patois owners opened JCR on Tuesday in the old Lucky Red spot in Chinatown.

Toronto’s first Hainanese chicken rice restaurant showcases rich "oil rice" served with poached Hainanese chicken or Southeast Asian-style roasted chicken and a variety of dipping sauces.

Stay tuned.

Kanga Aussie Meat Pies
150 King St. W.

The third location opens on Friday.

If you aren’t already addictive to these buttery, flaky Aussie meat pies, now’s your chance.

Philthy Philly's
80 Weston Rd.

The Stockyards Shopping Centre is now home to a selection of Philly cheesesteaks and poutines.

Socialite Tapas Bar
276 Augusta Ave.

Taking over Torito’s long reign on tapas in Kensington, Socialite carries on the small plates tradition.

184 Ossington Ave.

Bar Fancy’s team is behind this new restaurant on Ossington, serving up pizzas, pastas, salads and snacks.

This weekend forget about draft or bottled beer. Cask Days are here again.

Pigstock takes place at Le Select on Saturday and at Evergreen Brickworks on Sunday.

There’s still time to enjoy Savour York Region Restaurant Week

Starting Saturday, go to a film festival you can really sink your teeth into.

On Wednesday head to Food for Action fundraising dinner by Action Against Hunger, featuring 20 chefs at George Brown College’s Hospitality and Tourism Campus.

Mark your calendar: There’s only one place to be on November 1st – Eat to the Beat

And lastly:

Nordstrom isn’t just a department store. Now it’s a dining destination with the arrival of fab new restaurant Bar Verde

Make this weekend all about beer with a trip out to Durham Region.
