Open/Closed: week of July 6-12, 2017
Despite the short week, we’ve still got 11 new spots for you, complete with summer feels of lobster rolls, black ice cream, beer and tacos to start.
Here’s the very latest:
Tuck into Pakistani and Indian fare including Chicken 65, Lamb Biryani, and a host of sizzlers and curries at BarBQ Tonite’s (5165 Dixie Rd.) second location in Mississauga.
Ahoy matey. Buster’s Sea Cove (199 Bay St.) opened yesterday in Commerce Court, serving lobster rolls, fish and chips, and more seafood deliciousness. Bonus: the Financial District locale features a breakfast menu beginning at 8 am.
Eastside’s Chula Taberna Mexicana (1058 Gerrard St. E.) opens today, boasting two patios, three bars, lunch, brunch, dinner and late night eats.
Just in time for summer. Shop Godspeed Brewery (242 Coxwell Ave.) brews at their new retail shop, open daily 11 am to 11 pm. More good news? Their resto/pub is opening soon. Stay tuned.
If poké wraps and bowls are your jam, Hoki Poké’s (563 Yonge St.) got you covered. Grand opening takes place Wednesday.
Doors open to King Taps (100 King St. W.) tomorrow at First Canadian Place. Stay tuned for an inside look via The Reveal, coming soon.
Black ice cream is trending high this summer. But the ebony cones of Kracken Black Spiced Rum’s “Black Summer Skream” are suitable for 19+ only. Follow #KrakenBlackSummer to find the ice cream truck, or head to Death in Venice for a scoop ($5) until the end of July.
The secret’s out: My Secret Kitchen (316 Lakeshore Rd. E.) is now open. Part café, shop and catering outlet offers fresh and frozen pastas, hot table, sandwich and deli counter, and other pantry items. Not a cook, but want to look like one? Buy their cooked items and one of their casserole dishes with warming bag to take home.
The Junction is now home to organic and all-natural grocery store, Organic Garage (43 Junction Rd.), with more locations soon to follow.
Brand new Uncle Mikey’s (1597 Dundas St. W.) is doing Korean food with a twist (Beef Tongue and Jajang Orecchiette to start) served alongside a variety of sake, including cans of unpasteurized Kikusui Funaguchi “Gold,” straight from the freezer.
After last week’s sneak peek, Uncle Tetsu’s HCafe (4750 Yonge St., Unit 119) finally opened on Canada Day.
