Toronto Restaurants Lead Canada’s 100 Best List

 Last night, the winners of Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants were announced, with Toronto eateries leading the way.

The awards gala at The St. Regis Hotel was hosted by the magazine’s editor-in-chief Jacob Richler, and chef Ivana Raca, partner at Ufficio, with industry folk – chefs, restaurateurs, sommeliers, media – crowding the room.

The fifth annual event marked a number of firsts:

- Toronto topped the list with 26 restaurants making the prestigious roundup, followed by Montréal (25) and Vancouver (14).

- Gracing the list for the first time – 24 restaurants, 16 of which are new.

- The East Coast upped its game with eight establishments making the top 100. 

The evening also marked a new record for Alo, named “Best Restaurant in Canada” for the third year in a row. Chef and owner Patrick Kriss’ other establishments made the 2019 list as well – Aloette (35) and Alobar (65) - while he nabbed “Canada’s Most Outstanding Chef” title.
