Michelin Guide Toronto 2022: Recommended Restaurants

Michelin star and Bib Gourmand designations for Toronto restaurants have snagged the headlines this week, however thereâs another selection that earns eateries a place in the global guide.
âRecommendedâ isnât as widely touted a category and isnât included in the âDistinctionâ filter on the Michelin Guideâs website. Instead, youâll find these restaurants peppered in with the cityâs starred and Bib destinations. As for classification and methodology of selections, like most Michelin Guide protocols, itâs largely a mystery. An article on their site, What It Means To Be A Michelin-Recommended Restaurant, includes a loose definition by Michael Ellis, International Director of the Michelin Guide books: âA restaurant in the Recommended selection is the sign of a chef using quality ingredients that are well cooked; simply a good meal. It means that the inspectors have found the food to be above average, but not quite at star or Bib level.â
Michelin inspectors found 44 Toronto establishments of varying price points and duration of operation (some are just monthsâ old while others have been in business for a decade or more) worthy of the accolade.
