THE TIP OFF this week confirms the frenzied activity of arrivals and closures is far from over - including in some of the city’s buzziest neighbourhoods.
THIS JUST IN:
Leslieville has been welcoming bars and restos left and right lately. Recent additions include Bar Mini, La Bamboche, Masa Deli - and soon, The Castle and Ramona’s Kitchen, to name just a few. A single block across from Jimmie Simpson Park in particular will soon be lined with a bevy of food and drink spots side-by-side, both old and new: The Castle, Hooked, La Bamboche, The Roy Public House, Juzz Sushi, EAT BKK Thai Kitchen, All Way Convenience (which now features hot fare including rice dishes, samosas, and other grab ’n go eats), and soon, Bar Bokeh joins the mix, landing where bike shop Warren Cycle Works operated back in the day (890 Queen St. W.).
Harbord Village, home to many new ventures including Kokoro Japanese Sushi House, Maven, Musoshin Ramen, and any minute now, Bar Eugenie - is adding a Mexican joint to the roster. Alebrije is moving into Her Father's Cider Bar + Kitchen’s former stomping grounds (119 Harbord St.). Doors are slated to open this year. (Link to TTO 11)
Calling all seafood lovers. Seafood and oyster bar Seahorse is taking over where Tuck Shop Co. formerly stood in Summerhill, (1226 Yonge St.) with chef Federico Garcia, formerly of Quetzal, whipping up a storm of good grub.
If you’re a cocktail enthusiast, you’ll want to be in on Lonely Diner Cocktail Bar, coming “soon” to College and Bathurst. Make sure to follow here for details.
Speaking of libations, Ossington has its share of hidden bars. (Iykyk.) Think you know ‘em all? Think again. Shhh. One just landed behind one of the city’s top restaurants. See you at 130 Foxley Pl. (aka Bar Raton Laveur)
